My third year of university

This year I am in my third year of journalism at university of Chile. When I started to study I really didn´t know if this career would be my vocation and the only one for me, but I chosen it and now I am here writing this essay.

Until now, sometimes I think that I took wrong decision, but neither I like another career to change, so I hope to end journalism and then see what I have to do. By the way, these three years it wasn´t be bad, but I don´t feel like journalism be the career to me, because I don´t like to interview people and write news.

I think that this year has been the hardest one until now, because we have subjects like radio and television, that are practical and need a lot of time and dedication. So these are more difficult for me. Also in 2009 I learned, for example how to use video cameras, the Mac program: Final Cut to edit videos and other things like that.

This year I had thirteen subjects between practical and theoretical, and english. I passed all my subjects at the first semester and I hope to this happen again this semester. Next week I end my class and then we have exams until december fifteen. When finally I can travel to my home in the south.

Now, the only thing that I want is that this semester get over, because I am tired and stressed. And some friends are finished them semester so I want to hanging out with them. If I had to define this year I say that this was a stressful year, with more requirements and responsibilities, specially with my classmates, because we had a lot of group works.

If I have to make a self evaluation of my academic year I have to say that I didn´t do my best because I didn´t to motivate to study or make a very good job, I just tried to pass the subject, but something that I always did was came to almost every class to learn.

Maybe next year subjects will be more interesting to me and I could to motivate to study more and learn new and important things.

ICEI

Our faculty have a lot of problems in its facilities. First of all, and something essential like toilet paper. We don´t have it! Maybe it could sounds stupid but is necessary for all of us.

Well, also the computers are very old, and most of the time they doesn´t work properly.

Another problema that we have is about the equipment, like cameras, edit rooms, and all that stuffs, because there are a very few of each one, so sometimes you can´t use them.

Also, I was very shocked when I knew that the movies that borrow in the library aren´t original. Before I started university, I never thought that these things happen in University of Chile, the most important university of this country. So, it was very disappointed to me.

All these problems would sort out if the university gives more money to our faculty, because it have financial difficulties to improves its facilities.

Also, there are some problems with subjects of journalism, for example we don´t have history and english inside our schedule. I think that it was a huge problem, because these subjects are necessary for our future jobs.

But, I don´t want to be unfair, so I have to say that I like that in our faculty, most of the teachers are to devote with them work and with the students.

Lucky person

My family is composed by my parents and my two brothers, I am a middle child and the only one girl, so I am spoiled, specially of my dad.My older brother has just one year of difference with me, so we are close brothers. When we were kids, we spent a lot of time together. Then, when we came to study in santiago, we lived together in our flat, so we still be more than brothers, friends.

I always have had a good relation with my closest family, certainly that sometimes I had problems, but nothing really important. I have wonderful memories of my childhood, because we traveled a lot, I remember long trips by car with all my family, we had luck to know a lot places of Chile.

When I left my home in Puerto Varas to study in santiago, I realised how much important is my family to me, I need to talk with them very often to know about them and tell them about my life.

Actually, I don´t have just one best friend. I have a few really good friends, some of them are my school friends of Puerto Varas, whom study in santiago like me. And also, I have good friends at university, with whom I spend a lot of time, and I like to hang out with them. I had the luck to found very special people, whom made of my life far of my family more happy.

I think that every one are influenced by their families and friends, but in different ways. In my case, I think that sometimes I have to talk with my family, but in others is better to me to talk with my friends when I had a problem. It depends of the problem.

Finally, I have to say that I feel that I am very lucky person by the family and friends that I have.

I ♥ MUSIC

First of all I have to say that I think that I wouldn´t live without music. I am always been listen to music of my mp3 or my iPod. I can´t imagine my life without music.

I like a lot of music, like argentinian rock, brit pop, chilean music and pop. I can´t choose one artist or song, because I think that music means something or have importance at the moment or in specific period of the life.

If I would have to choose my favourites concerts, I choose, first of all, when I went to the concert of Fito Páez in Puerto Varas, because I really like him, and I was sit at the first place. It was great!

Another concert that I remember was the Andrés Calamaro, here in santiago. I liked it too, even I went alone. That is sounds so bad, but it wasn`t because I spent the time with a colombian girl who was also alone.

Also, I liked the big concert "Vive Latino", that was in santiago a few years ago. At this event went a lot of artist that I liked, between them; Babasónicos, Los tres, Vicentico, El otro yo, Ataque 77, and others.

Now I am waiting for Coldplay! I really wanted to go when they come here, but I was in my house in the south and the tickets were very expensive. So, when Coldplay said that they would come in november I was happy again. But, happiness didn´t lasted long time, because the national stadium wouldn´t ready for this date. So, unfortunately, until now, is not sure that they come to Chile.

Another artist that I would like to go a concert of her is Lily Allen, because I like her music, specially the songs of her last album "It`s not me, it´s you"

Little girl smoking

It sounds incredible, but one guy allowed that a three years old girl smoke and now he has to go to prison for 18 months.

This happened in Ashington, Northumberland, when Graeme Conroy, 31 years old, let that little girl smoke, the situation was recorded by a mobile phone camera, and it shows how Conroy gave the cigarette to child and encouraging her to inhale.

The mobile phone belonged to a 14 years old girl, who go to the police and said that it looks like the little girl use to smoke, because it didn´t look that it was her first time.

Tony Glover, prosecuting, said that Conroy made his confession and admitted that he gave the cigarette to the girl and he knew that it was bad.

Jane Foley, defending, admitted that his behavoir was irresponsible, and clearly it wasn´t funny, like Conroy appears in video.

The judge said that he expect that Conroy understand that his attitude was damaging to a child´s health and it isn´t funny at all.

Visiting Santiago

I think that Santiago has a lot of places to go, but it depends of what kind of turist you are and what are you looking for, what places, you will visit.

For example, if you want to know about history, you have to go to some museum, like "Natural history museum", or visit tradicional buildings like The Mint, National Library, Cousiño Palace, Square of guns, and others.

Now, if you want to visit typical places, you can go to central market to eat curanto or fish without spend a lot of money, central station, bellavista neighborhood, and others.

If you are looking adventure and do excercise, you can go with your bike to San Cristobal hill, or use any cycle path in santiago, even, if you don`t have your own bike, you can to rent one in providencia for a while and it is very cheap.

If you are young and you want to go to a party, you can go to bellavista neighborhood, there you can go to drink beer or dance, in manuel montt street, you can find a lot of pubs to go with friends, also you can visit Saint Enrique square, where are discos to dance.

Really, I think that in santiago you have a lot of things to do and places to go.

Skins

Really, I like a lot of TV series, but the last one that I saw complete was the british Skins, I saw by youtube, and then you could see it by HBO, and now by MTV.

This serie is about a group of young friends, who had problems with drugs, alcohol, sexuality, eating disorders, dysfunctional families, etc.

I like Skins, because it shows very different realities, in a different culture. And also, like I said in another post, I like the british accent.

Also, I like the music and the aesthetics of this serie.

But, I have to say that my favourite was the first season, because then, when appears new characters the serie makes it worse.

I think that Skins shows different type of young people, who not always have space to be on television. And it is entertaining and after every chapter you wants to know what is going to happen on the next one.

But, Skins is not a comedy, because it haves a lot of drama.

The principal characters are Tony, the popular and attractive guy, his sexy girlfriend, Michelle, his best friend Syd.
Cassie, the girl with eating disorder, Chris, the party guy, Jall, the clever and strict girl, Maxxie is the homosexual, and Anwar, the young muslim.

All of them have different problems during the serie.
